Joseph Hicks brings professional playing experience and a lifetime of baseball knowledge to BreakAway Speed's athlete development program. A Houston native, Joseph attended Forrest Brook High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete, playing four years of varsity baseball as a center fielder and three years of varsity football as a quarterback.
Joseph's baseball career continued at the professional the professional level when he was selected 253rd overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2002 MLB Amateur Draft. He spent four years in the Pirates organization from 2002-2006 before continuing his career in independent professional baseball.
Throughout his playing career, Joseph competed for several organizations, including the Bay Area Toros, where he was part of the 2008-2009 Continental League Championship team, as well as the Normal CornBelters, McAllen Thunder, and San Angelo Colts.
His experience at the professional level gives him a strong understanding of both the physical and mental sides of player development. Joseph uses that experience to help young athletes build sound fundamentals, improve their mechanics, and develop greater confidence on the field.
